Start the day with Cowboy Mouth! Amazing how they nailed my heart with their songs written in the aftermath of Katrina. Samantha has followed them forever but I never bothered to listen, huge mistake, I was missing out on a lot. LOL, always associated them with busting Samantha and Catherine sneaking out of House of Blues when they were in high school. Usually start my mornings with internet radio but I've finally started trying to get to "know" my ipod (the kids had set it up for me last year and it's just been sitting on the desk ever since). Hit my NOLA button and "the Foot of Canal St" filled my headphones and damn. "Home" just turns my anger into a kickass anthem and makes me wanna plant my feet and fight for my life. Makes me think, I need to create a time capsule of sorts, a summary of what Katrina has done to us... Cowboy Mouth's "Voodoo Shop", Chris Rose's "One Dead in Attic" collection and Clayton Cubitt's photography on his site, Operation Eden, these three do it, genius each. No Chris Rose or Clayton Cubitt today though, don't wanna cry. Gonna crank up the Cowboy Mouth and try to get a handle on making room for Christmas in a gutted house.
